Who we are
Word Partners Oceania trains pastors to teach God’s life giving word to churches across the Oceania region - Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and beyond.
We partner with local churches and denominations to grow and equip pastors to be workman approved who handle God’s word rightly and who pass that word on to others so they in turn can teach so that God’s word spreads and brings life and hope to many.
Our history
Many pastors in countries around the world do not have easy access to training and resources to enable them to lead God’s people and teach them the transforming and life giving word of God. This concern is what motives us and many others who have benefitted from theological and bible college training to share training and resources with less well resourced locations. Leadership Resources International, Word Partners, Fellowship of the Word (from the USA), Proclamation Trust and Langham Partnership (from the UK), Moore College and Anglian Aid (here in Australia) have all contributed to this training and equipping.
Word Partners Oceania brings this training and equipping to pastors across the Pacific. We have been working in the oceania region for over 15 years with projects in Australia, New Zealand, Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea.
Our Trainers
Meet the Team
Word Partners Oceania partners with trainers from various organisations and churches who share the same heart and conviction about the word of God and the importance to teaching and equipping pastors to correctly teach that word. We building a team of trainer, both male and female, to train pastors, teachers, church workers, youth pastors and lay leaders in various locations in Oceania.
Paul Hunt
Paul is from Adelaide and with training from Moore College has served in pastoral ministry in Adelaide for 30 years. Paul has partnered with Langham Trust in Solomon Islands and more recently has joined the WPO team with the training in Alotou, PNG.
Phil Wheeler
Phil is resident in Sydney and has been in pastoral ministry for over 30 years as both a senior pastor and assistant. He is a graduate of Moore College and currently directs a ministry in Sydney encouraging evangelism, church planting and raising up cross cultural pastors and trainers to reach the lost in Sydney and beyond. He has been involved with training pastors in a number of locations in Australia, Africa, PNG, Solomon Islands, USA and New Zealand.
Phil currently leads training work for Fellowship of the Word in Alotou, (PNG), Adelaide, Sydney and Richmond (NZ).
Paul Webb
Paul is a pastor leading a multi cultural church in the SW of Sydney. He is involved with raising up leaders from different cultural backgrounds, often migrant communities, for whom English is a second or third language. Paul was born in PNG and speaks fluent tok pigin.which together with his cross cultural ministry experience, is a great benefit in the training work in Alotou, PNG
Our Board
Word Partners is governed by a Board and is a registered Charity in Australia under the ACNC. Directors are Tony Payne, Simone Sistema and Phil Wheeler. They have experience in Bible teaching, training in Christian ministry, adult education, leadership development and coaching, publishing and cross cultural ministry in Australia and beyond.
